Build 41. Differential Oil
Another quick post really so I know what I put in the car when I built it, as all these bottles will go in the recycling/bin shortly and I'll soon forget what I used which will then involved numerous contradicting internet searches which I can really do without!
So this was a quick after lunch session. The diff comes without any oil in it, so I simply removed the plug at the back using a 14mm hex key, and then attached a hose and funnel to it through the boot of the car. I used the left over piece of hose that came in the kit (Note some of this will be used to protect the rear brake hose, so make sure you cut a piece off for that!). I used some ties to secure the hose to make pouring easier.
The manual calls for 800ml of oil to be poured in the diff, but I've read on some blogs that after the PBC the oil needed topping up, so I went with about 900ml in the end, and every so often I rotated the prop shaft to make sure it all go moved about a bit as well (Make sure the hose pipe is not pushed far into the diff for this in case you catch it!) It never once came out of the fill plug so I think this will be fine.
